Slowing down....

Why I Don't Teach More Yoga Classes

I'm often asked why I don’t teach more yoga classes. For me, it’s not about quantity — it’s about quality. I want to give 110% every time I step into the space to teach. I want to show up fully, with presence, and hold space in a way that’s nourishing for both you and me.

As an empath and highly sensitive person, I feel everything deeply. I absorb energy like a sponge — it’s not something I can switch off. Because of that, I’ve learned how vital it is to protect my own energy and wellbeing. Teaching less is one of the ways I do that.

I also wear other hats outside of teaching yoga. I have jobs that require my physical and mental energy, and I juggle time with my partner, family, friends, and the things that bring me joy. It would be easy to fill my diary to the brim — but I’ve learned (sometimes the hard way) that slowing down is essential.

For me, slowing down looks like:

  • Logging off technology

  • Being truly present

  • Not rushing

  • Being in nature

  • Meditating regularly

  • Keeping up with my own yoga practice

  • Doing simple things mindfully and intentionally

This is how I take care of myself — so I can show up as the best version of me. As a yoga teacher. As a partner. An aunty. A sister. A daughter. A friend. A co-worker. Presence is my mission — and it starts with choosing spaciousness.

What does slowing down look like for you? 💭
